Animatics Update Chapter 9

Animatics for chapters 9 and 10 of iBIBLE are underway, bridging the gap between script writing and animation. Today, we want to share with you exciting progress from our new animatics team in Greece as they work on Chapter 9. Back in May, we sent an iBIBLE Behind-the-Scenes update on Chapter 9 featuring earlier rough sketches of the scenes below.

In the process of creating iBIBLE, animatics are integral to bringing the ideas revealed in the story to life. This step in the process is where our animatics artists take the finished script, then begin with a round of stick figure art to show a rough idea of what each shot will look like. Then art is refined and placed in the scenes.

Sarai goes

In iBIBLE Chapter 9, we see Sarai, Abram's wife, had not yet had any children. She devises a way to have children—through her Egyptian servant Hagar. In the picture above, Sarai moves through the camp to find Abram in order to share this plan with her husband.

And Sarai said to Abram, “Behold now, the Lord has prevented me from bearing children. Go in to my servant; it may be that I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai. —Genesis 16:2 [ESV]

Hagar runs away

Later in this chapter, Sarai gets her wish: Hagar conceived, but instead of everyone celebrating, Hagar looked on Sarai with contempt. Sarai then treated Hagar harshly, and Hagar fled from the camp.

Near a spring of water in the wilderness, Hagar encounters the Angel of the Lord. Here, He speaks to her, asking "Where have you come from and where are you going?" She responded, "I am fleeing from my mistress Sarai" (Genesis 16:8–9).

Hagar meets the angel of the Lord

In this powerful story, we see the Angel of the Lord ministering to Hagar in her worst hour. He first tells her to return to her mistress and submit to her. Then He gives her a promise:

The angel of the LORD also said to her, “I will surely multiply your offspring so that they cannot be numbered for multitude.”

He tells her that she is pregnant and instructs her to name the son Ishmael, meaning "God hears." How incredible is it that God sought out Hagar and brought her comfort and a promise?
