A Promise Fulfilled!
As the production of iBIBLE continues through the chapters of Genesis, we are excited to share with you brand new concept art from the fulfillment of a promise—the birth of Isaac! Come along as we explore how these images from Chapter 13 of iBIBLE express the importance of this special scene.
What a blessing a baby is to any household, but how marvelous must it have felt to Abraham and Sarah, who waited and longed for a child for many years and finally, at the ripe ages of 90 and 100, to be blessed with this long-awaited child (see Genesis 17:17; 21:5). The Lord had given them a miracle. Now, Abraham's line would continue, and they held in their arms their son.
The Black & White concept image above shows the joy of Sarah and Abraham as they look at Isaac. God had promised Abraham that a son would be born to them: “Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son” (Genesis 18:14). Though they had originally laughed at the thought of having a son in their old age, still the Lord honored His promise to Sarah and Abraham. Sarah states:
God has given me good reason to laugh. Now everyone who hears will laugh with me! Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet, I have borne him a son in my old age! —iBIBLE Chapter 13
Special care was taken in each scene to ensure that Isaac’s appearance was just right. The blue lines of these concept images help the artists draw the characters in proportion and help them know where the focus of each scene will be. People are illustrated first and the background content is added after to complete the scene.
