Who was John the Baptist? The cousin of Jesus, John the Baptist was born to a woman named Elizabeth, the cousin of Mary, who bore this special son in her old age. John the Baptist would grow up strong in the grace of God, and then go out to live in the wilderness awaiting the appearance of the long-awaited Messiah.
