The Creation of iBIBLE Storybook Timelines
If you own one of RevelationMedia’s beautifully illustrated iBIBLE storybooks, you probably have seen the timelines included toward the end of each of them. The timeline helps you visualize the broader narrative of Scripture and makes it easy to remember important events in the Bible!
Here are the steps for creating the timeline:
First, we pinpoint major events in the Biblical Narrative that occur in the storybook chapters. These are listed out in order and sent to the animation team.
Next, our artists create a rough outline. This outline situates each event in chronological order with corresponding sketch images.
Then, they create a black-and-white sketch of the timeline based on the Biblical events, showing how each event moves into the next (see the backward "S" pattern in the image below).
The timeline is then colored by the iBIBLE artists and placed in the storybook, providing a visual map for the events of the Bible.
Finally, we place the outline into the storybook itself and label each event with a number that corresponds to a short description at the bottom of the page. The timelines are great ways to internalize the Grand Narrative of Scripture and recap what you just read in the storybook.
