The Road to Emmaus
RevelationMedia is continuing to design settings and characters for our upcoming 3D-animated iBIBLE: Life of Christ. This week, learn more about the creation of the city Emmaus through a look at how our artists and animators use research about a location to meticulously craft each element of the story. Each scene of iBIBLE is carefully researched and designed piece-by-piece to be as accurate and engaging as possible.
This first image shows the preliminary research and design for the town of Emmaus as well as the road leading toward it. Historical research is conducted on what kind of vegetation, weather, and road/trail conditions would have affected the travelers. Additionally, Emmaus would most likely have been located to the northwest of Jerusalem, so there is also the factor of the location of the sun in the sky as they travel. This type of detailed research is what goes into the planning and preparation of each location, person, and episode of iBIBLE Life of Christ.
After the animator or artist creates the initial designs, the concepts go through several rounds of edits for accuracy, look, and overall design. Here you can see extensive edits referencing the shapes and styles of houses at the time. These edits are extremely detailed in order to closely portray the look of the city in that era.
Lastly, in this image, you can see the final designed rendering for the city of Emmaus with time period-accurate vegetation, landmarks, houses, and landscape. This sets the stage for the part of the Biblical Narrative in which Jesus explains the Bible to two strangers traveling on the road to Emmaus.
