Jesus and the Woman at the Well
As we look forward to animating later chapters and scenes in iBIBLE, the first ever complete presentation of the narrative of Scripture, we are excited to share with you concept art from a pivotal New Testament scene: when Jesus speaks to the woman at the well.
In this powerful exchange, Jesus shares an incredible truth with the Samaritan woman, “I who speak to you am [the Messiah]” (see John 4:1–42).
Initial Line Art
iBIBLE artists began by laying out the composition of the scene with linework. In order to create a sense of intimacy in such a wide-open space, Jesus and the woman are situated facing one another at either end of the well. The scene is framed in with a tree in the background to give a sense of enclosed space.
Line Art Plus Shading
Detailed Line Art: Ready for Color
The first iterations of the images portrayed the woman as quite a bit older, but for the final concept art, she is shown to be slightly younger. The art moves from a rough shaded image to more detailed line art.
Beginning Stages of Color Work
We are looking forward to bringing these Bible scenes to life for you and for the global missions community.
Final Concept Image
As you may remember from the release of the scene of David and Goliath, there will likely be updates to this image before it appears in iBIBLE. All of the research that we do will inform the final scene so we can ensure that every element of iBIBLE lines up with the Scriptures.
