Joseph's Success in Egypt
For this week’s behind-the-scenes look into the making of an iBIBLE episode, witness the dramatic transformation of Joseph from a lowly slave to a successful man in Egypt. This is taken from iBIBLE Episode 31, based on Genesis chapters 37 and 39.
The first image is a pencil drawing of Joseph being led away toward Egypt after his brothers turned on him and sold him into slavery.
“And they drew Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. They took Joseph to Egypt.” —Genesis 37:28b
This next image shows Joseph communicating with Egyptians. He is shown here with a shaved head, which in the culture at the time, indicated someone’s status as a slave or as a member of the priesthood. Higher status people wore wigs, such as Potiphar’s wife, pictured on the right. The frame indicates that Joseph, although a slave, is starting to gain attention.
Finally, this image shows Joseph, seated on the ground by the table with the scroll, wearing the wig signifying his status among the Egyptian elites. In progression, these snapshots reveal pieces of Joseph’s transformation from slave to significant leader.
