Melchor the Wise Man
In the Christmas narrative, Scripture tells us that wise men visited Christ, although we don’t know how many “magi” actually came. Matthew 2 recounts the story of the wise men traveling to see the Child, following the star that settled over Bethlehem, and their encounter with the wicked King Herod, who was trying to snuff out the Messianic prophecy.
In today’s behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of iBIBLE, see Melchor the wise man, traditionally regarded as one of three magi who visited Jesus after He was born in Bethlehem.
This first image shows an illustration of Persian footwear, used to model the wise man.
The next image depicts an early rendering of Melchor, complete with his boots and garb.
Finally, here is a collage of different angles of Melchor, showing the wealthy and esteemed status that the magi were held in. The Bible tells us both kings and shepherds were there to witness the birth of Jesus, showing us how the King of the Universe came for the mightiest and the least of mankind, to restore us all.
